Tick Preventative for Rabbits

Question
Hi,  Can you recommend a save tick preventative for a 3 lb. rabbit?  We've just acquired an adorable Mini-Lop Rabbit, he's about 9 months old and probably only weighs about 3 lbs.  He's comfortable in his outdoor hutch and his previous owners said he was just fine outside all winter.  We've had him for 2 weeks and just today I found two tiny brown ticks on him, so I'm interested in a safe way to keep these pests off our rabbit.  Thanks,  Terri

Answer
Dear Terri,

The best way to prevent ticks is, of course, to make him into a house rabbit.  Rabbits are too intelligent, social, and fun to waste away in an outdoor hutch.  And they are easy to litterbox train and have as an interactive, affectionate member of the family.  You can read more here:

As for tick prevention, the only safe solution is Revolution (selamectin), available from your vet.  DO NOT use Frontline, as it can be deadly to rabbits.  You can read more here:

Hope that helps.
