Question
Our rabbit is a female Dutch and nearly 2. She has been spayed. However recently she has had red urine. Due to the current weather conditions she is unable to go out, could this be an effect? Please can you mail back if you have any idea

Answer
Dear Ceyda-Simone,

Rabbit urine can vary in color from pale yellow to orange or red or even brown.  It can be affected by diet, medications, and even by the psychological state of the bunny.  As long as your bunny is acting normal, has a good appetite, and shows no sign of straining to urinate or pain upon urination, I would suspect this is just one of those normal variations.

You can read more here:

If in doubt, you can find a good rabbit vet here:

who can determine if anything needs treatment.

Hope that helps.
