Question
One of our Doe's had a litter of babies 7 weeks ago,our other doe had a litter 3 weeks ago. I noticed the mom of the 7 week olds has pulled fur in the corner of her hutch, but has NO contact with a male since before her current litter. What would she be doing? We changed the straw in the cages and put the 3 week olds in with the older group, could that have made her think she has babies again,or is she just hormonal/in heat,I don't know what to make of it.Your opinion would be great! Thanks so much.

Answer
Often when they do this, it's a hormonal inbalance that causes it.  I'm not quite familiar enough with breeding rabbits to tell you what kicked off the false pregnancy behavior in the mother of the 7 week old.  She may even start do other behaviors like mood change or territorial behavior changes.  But it should pass.
