hi my female rabbit is months old the last few day shes been scratching her like mad, become aggressive and nesting with my young boys socks and hay i never had a rabbit before so im a little worried and not sure what to do she not eating her pellet food either  help please x

Answer
hello andrea

Your subject 'phantom pregnancy' is definatley what is happening here. This is totallty normal for a female rabbit to think that she is pregnant but actually she isnt. She is acting in the same way as if she was actually pregnant ie being aggressive. This is normal behaviour and in a few days she will return back to normal. At the moment she is very hormonal and wont like to be picked up of stroked as much.

Give her some tasty treats/veg and out it into her pellet food she will soon be eating the pellet food again. Try not to worry rabbits going through a phantom pregnany sometimes go of their food and return normal not long after.

hope this helps
