female bonded pair

Question
I adopted a pair of rabbits about 2 weeks ago from a rescue home in Germany. One is a lop and one is a chinchilla. They have lived together since birth. When I brought them home they kept mounting each other. This stopped for a few days but then last sunday they had a big fight with fur all over my living room. I have now separated them into different cages and they still try to go for each other through the bars. I know that they both need to be spayed. They are about 1 year old and behave like teenagers. Do you think they will bond again once they have been spayed or should I give one back to the home and try a male with the other one? Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer
hello

Firstly you done the right thing seperating them. With my experience i think that getting them both spayed wont really make any difference. Rabbits of both sexes do tend to fight more than a apir or rabbits with different sexes.

It is totally your choice. If you do choose to get them spayed and then try them back together then i would take baby steps, don't put them straight together as they might still fight but instead put them near eachother (in a space that is new to both of them) and see how they get along, never leave them unatended.

hope this is of some help
