Question
I have a male Chocolate Dutch rabbit that is about 1 year old.  The brown fur on his back and hind quarters is turning a lighter shade of brown.  Is this normal?  Is ther anything I can do to get it back to a uniform dark color?

Answer
Hello Gary!
Well I have  a few thoughts about your Choc Dutch.
1st off you can keep you rabbit out of direct sunlight. this is the leading cause of the fur changing color especially in Choc.
if it is due to the sun  you may have to wait till your rabbit molts out the faded fur to get back to the normal color he once had, and then it may be blotchy. 2nd it may be due to another buck spraying him  if so  the same cure will be at hand. 3rd  it may just be him molting now and if thats so  he will get all his new fur and good color again in about a month.  you can help out with giving him wheat germ oil in his feed only about 2-3 ml per day.  or feed rolled barley.
Good luck
Dan
