Rabbit Feeding

Question
Good morning, My rabbit is 17 weeks old and I have had her for nearly 3 weeks. When I got her from the breeder he gave me a bag of food which I used until it ran out, I then changed to a different type (which i have now learnt I should have weaned her onto the new food). She got an upset tummy and was producing mushy poop, this got much better over the week however yesterday it came back. The only thing I did differently in her feed was give her a chew stick with seeds etc on it, would this be likely to upset her stomach?

What i would like to know is what to feed her while this clears up. I have read many different things on the Internet and am a bit confused! She doesn't seem ill and is bright and inquisitive as always!

i have been giving her lots of hay, a very small amount of pellet and small pieces of carrot. I am worried I am not feeding her enough as when i put her food in she practically get the bowl out of my hand as I put it down! but i am also worried to feed her too much and make her tummy worse!

Thank you for you help, she is a lovely little thing and i just want to look after her!!!

Answer
Hello, Luara

I will tell you that pallets, rabbit foods ect: all these things are not good for your rabbits heatlh. I will rather advise you give Fresh veg. well it won't be a bit costly! I give my rabbits the tops of carrots, beet roots, leaft overs of the cabbage. these things have NO harm in cannot make a rabbit sick or a badc tummy. I will then advise you stop feeding these fods and change to leafs veg fruit. if your rabbits love these foods then maybe every second day give half a cup or so. As I did say I cannot answer all Questions but I try with all my expirence to help! S I am not an expert in sick rabbits. So this is all I can tell you about his tummy! I hope it comes right!

I am Queit worried for your bunny! as he seems to be following a path that often leads to death in these little rabbits. it can be A bit dangerous.
This can be a bit dangerous for your bunny, due to the switch to solids. The intestines essentially become intolerant of the new food and this triggers a chain reaction where you end up with diarrhea or constipation and this triggers intestinal inflammation. Bacteria can also accumulate and irritate the intestines. This ultimately leads to death in many cases. but your rabbit may still be playfull and happy.
Another suggestion is to add some unflavored pedialyte to his water in a 50-50 mix. This will help prevent dehydration and it will restore his electrolytes, which are lost through the loose stools.

PLEASE BEFORE YOU DO ANY OF THE ABOVE ADVISE CONSUTLT YOUR VET!!! PLEASE PLEASE I DO NOT WANT TO GET IN TO TROUBLE!!!

Hope you come right! I hope to hear from you soon!
