My bunny wont stop pooping

Question
Today I was playing with my 1 month old rabbit, Stormy, when I noticed he was pooping quite alot. They were very small, but dry, not runny. I inspected his bottom and it was very red and swollen. After a while the redness went away, but it kept coming back after he pooped. I have another rabbit, Oreo, and they live in the same cage, but he didn't seem to have any problem. Also, Stormy's eyes were red and he seemed to doze off often, though usually he was very perky. He pooped many times and I'm afraid he might be sick. Do you know what is wrong with him? If he is sick, what should I do?

Answer
I'm not sure I can give you an exact answer.  There's a variety of possibilities, from something in the environment causing eye irritation to a sickness.

Your bun is only a month old, and I'm assuming that he's now away from his mother.  This is young to be away from his mother.  Rabbit's digestive system need the bacteria from their mom that they get through her milk.  Many good rabbit resources recommend that a rabbit not be away from the mother for at least 5 weeks, preferably 8.

This isn't something to freak you out about.  But with rabbits, especially with such a young rabbit, there's nothing wrong with taking him to a vet to make sure he's not sick. It's always better to err on the side of caution.

I'd give it another day and if his eyes still seemed bothered and if he seems less active then normal, then I'd make a vet appointment.

And if he starts to eat less than normal, this is a sign that he is sick and needs good vet care.
