How long after giving birth before a doe slims down?

The kits are starting to open their eyes but the does is still fat and heavy.  They are outdoors where night temperatures can go down to the 20's.  She is getting as much pellets as she wants along with veges.  The kits are also fat and heavy.

Hi Tom. It sounds like your doe and kits are good and healthy. Your doe will slim down when the kits make more demand of her milk supply over the next couple of weeks. But the fact that the kits are fat as well as the doe is a good thing. Sounds to me as all is well.  Pat
