Question
Ella and Bernard are house bunnies.  Ella has a history of ileus x1.  I have spoken to my vet, handles exotics as well as dogs and cats.  She is eating again, all green, leafy vegetables,(the timothy pellets are gone for now), ad lib orchard grass hay and getting cisapride and probiotics.  I clean the litter box every night and know that between the two of them there is usually 350 - 500 pellets.  It is down to half of that therefore, I think Bernard is the only one pooping regularly.  There are some oddly shaped pellets and I think that those are hers as well as some small hard ones.  What about a laxative?  My vet recommended black berry leaves, which I started yesterday.  Ella seems to act fine, she is eating, drinking some, voiding and grooming herself and Bernie.  She is alert, but doesn't show any interest in getting out of the enclosure to run around.  I did try putting her in the hall and making her go up and down to try and get some movement. I have also tried offering her Bernard's cecotrophs to no avail.

Answer
Hi Rebecca,

If your bunny is still not producing fecal pellets you really need to get her to the vet.  Sometimes when they aren't eating they won't go to the bathroom but if she is eating and still isn't producing pellets there is a chance that it is a blockage which is a true emergency.

I do hope Ella recovers quickly.
