Bunny acting strange - something in mouth Part 2

Question
Just one more question about Cuddles. (that's her name because that's all she does) You mentioned earlier about an abscess in the back of the mouth or throat. Would an x-ray be needed for this or can it be felt or visible with that Otoscope?
As you can see I want to cover "all" scenarios for my bun.
You won't believe how this bunny changed our lives. BIG TIME!
Thanks again Dana. Your profile is awesome.

Answer
Dear Bill,

Whether this can be seen with radiograph or on visual examination depends on the type of abscess, where it is located, etc.  There are just too many variables for me to make a guess about how this might be detected.  A good ultrasound technologist familiar with rabbit anatomy would probably be able to see something, if it's soft tissue.  But good luck finding someone like that.  :(

I think whatever the particular vet feels is going to help diagnose the problem would be worth trying.  Sometimes problems like this can be very cryptic.  But first stop should certainly be visual inspection with an otoscope.

Hope the mystery will be solved soon!
