Doe pregnacy

Question
Hello, i am a bit concerned about my doe. I mated her with my buck on the 12th of February and still she hasnt gave birth and starting to worry about it. She is pregnant 100% as her belly is bigger and she grunts when the buck tries to mount her. I didnt seperate them right after they mated as i didnt have a second cage back then. Do you think that she may not have got pregnant that day and got another day after i saw them? They are now seperated in differend cages. She hasnt made a nest all she does is pushing the hay with her legs in her cage all the time and digging the cage.I put a nestbox in the cage but she started eating the hay from it digging it and eating the nestbox. She is healthy running around eating drinking and playing but i am concerned if something is going wrong and may lose her. Thank you in advance, hope for a fast reply

Answer
Dear Manolis,

If you are concerned about the apparent late birth, then please have her seen by a vet who is experienced with rabbits.  I am not sure you can find one in Greece, but check the list here:

A Caesarian section might be necessary if she really is late, and the babies are becoming too large for her to safely deliver.  It would also be wise for you to have her spayed at that time (or once these babies are weaned).  The male can impregnate her again within minutes of her giving birth, and back-to-back litters are unhealthy for all concerned.  Please read:

I hope this helps.
