Questionmy cat just caught a baby rabbit and it seems pretty healthy but it has a laceration on it's shoulder and possibly a punctur near it's ear - it is a very young baby - what can i do to help it?
AnswerDear Michelle,
Whenever a baby rabbit has been injured by a cat, it is very wise to have the baby put on a fluoroquinolone antibiotic to prevent deadly systemic infection by Pasteurella bacteria, especially if there is a puncture wound. Cat teeth and claws are rotten with this dangerous pathogen, and it is *extremely* risky to leave a wounded baby untreated. Please find a good rabbit vet here:
www.rabbit.org/vets
and let him/her know that the baby was bitten by a cat. The vet should know what to do.
For information on proper care of the baby, please see:

I hope this helps.
