Update Friday, morining

Question
Followed all your instructions, except critical care feeding. This morning found many tiny fecal pellets, but then there were also normal looking ones. She was peaking her head like usually she does to see what was in the treat bowl and she ate a big chunk of Romaine lettuce (very green), 1/2 inch piece carrot and nibbled on celery and papaya ( I made a mushy consistency of the papaya in my fingers and she licked it all including the juice)I will get pineapple today.  All of these were rinsed with Pedialyte for moisture and she licked some diluted Ice Tea.  She looks much better today, she lay down as looking dead (on her side) and she does this when she is happy, then she lays there for a tummy rub (so cute). But she still not reacting to play time or any toys. Should I continue with the Reglan, Nutrical and CatLax? I don't want to give her stress, the CatLax and Nutrical it is torture.  She sees me and sees HELL!. She takes of running and it difficult to get her in the cage to pick her up, (a good 30 minutes# I know Septra is for 10 days and the Gas Drops #as per Vet) and last dose should be Monday morning. She still seams not to have much appetite.

Answer
Hi Maggy:

The fecal pellets are a very good sign.

It's also great that she is eating.  Things are moving in the right direction.

You need to keep doing what you are doing - it's working.

I know its hard when she fears you and runs from you, but she does not know that you are saving her life!

It may take as long as 2 months before she is actually playing with toys and acting like herself again.

Without the proper treatment regimen (which most vets do not know), most rabbits do not make it through this.  Your's will because you are doing the right thing.

Continue with everthing, including the reglan, nutrical and catlax until her full appetite has returned.  Continue with the ice tea, papaya, pineapple and hay for at least 3 days after she is pooping 100% normal (size and amount) and then, I will tell you how to gradually taper down.

Your doing great - keep it up.  You are a very dedicated owner - your bunny is lucky to have you.
