My rabbit is not eating, very tired

Question
Hi Dana, my rabbit Chamomile is now three years old. Yesterday he was his perfectly fine, bumptious, happy self. But today he has just been quite tired - not immobile or anything, but just wanting to sit away from us in the house, hide behind things, etc. He still struggles when he is picked up, which is a relief, but he is refusing treats - though I think he may have eaten a little - and he simply wants to just lounge with his feet out. This morning he was doing his flopped on his side position, but he got up as soon as I approached him. I don't think he's injured, though I did drop him when transporting him to his hutch yesterday - but he is moving normally and it wasn't a high drop. He always lands on his feet, I am ashamed to say he often jumps away from us but he always lands safely and it has never affected him badly. I think he may have fur stuck in his intestines because he is shedding a lot as it is August and  he frequently washes himself, though I do brush him often and sometimes gently pull some tufts out to stop him ingesting it when washing. I'm taking him to the vets tomorrow anyway, but I would really like some advice on how serious it is and what the likely cause is. Thank you very much.

Answer
Dear Melissa,

The signs you describe are quite vague, and could be due to any number of things.  You're wise to get him to the vet for a complete check, and I hope all went well.

If you see this type of problem again, I hope this will help:

It doesn't sound as if he's deathly ill.  But reduced appetite can mean trouble.  Very common cause is dental disease:

which can be subtle.

I hope he will be fine soon.
