Question
I have a 2 day old orphaned miniature pig and have had many and varied recommendations as to what to feed it. I would like to know if you have any favourite milk you like to use. Thankyou Lynn

Answer
Hello,
You have a tuff job ahead of you!
First I need to tell you that piglets unlike puppies and kittens need to have the sows colostrum to survive.
Do you know if the piglet nursed the sow at all before you took it?
This is very important as the survival rate is extremely low in situations where the mothers colostrum was not received in the first 12 hours of the piglets life.
Now for the question as to what to feed.
I use goat milk diluted with water about 1/3 goat milk and 3/4 water. I also put a drop of liquid Gerber Baby Vitamins in as that will give them extra Iron and other Vitamins that that they need.
The milk needs to be room temperature as if it is too warm it can cause Diarrhea. You should feed every hour for the first day and then every two hours after that.
I wish you luck!
Take care, Patty
