How much to feed piglet 7 weeks

Question

Miss Piggy1
HI I'm a first time piggy owner and I bought a 6 week pot belly pig, she was the smallest of the 4 remaining when I got her. I'm concerned in how her belly looks how just having her 10 days. I don't think I'm feeding her too much as she leaves food behind when she's done. I was giving her goats milk to make sure she got enough fluids and how I mix it with water. She eats pig pellets and loves it. We also have a pool for her and she drinks the water from it.
I'm just not sure how fast they grow and it looks bloated. I've attached pictures of when we first got her and now. Please let me know if this is normal.
Thanks!

Answer
Piglets do get full round tummies after eating. The tummy should shrink before the next meal.

Feeding pigs is more art than science. Each pig is different, and each home is different. Young and active pigs need more food than old and seditary pigs. Outdoors pigs often need more than indoor pigs because they tend to be more active and must cope with the weather.

Piglets should gain about 1 lb per week until they are a year old. If the piglet is gaining properly, then the diet is fine.

The rule of thumb is 1/2 cup of pot-bellied pig food per 15 lb of piglet, no less than 1/2 cup per day, along with veggies and fruits and training treats. It's important to count the calories in treats.

But, this is just a starting point, and should be adjusted up or down depending on the piglet. Goat milk is great for baby piglets, but it does have calories that need to be counted. If piggy is gaining weight too fast, I'd cut the milk out of the diet first. Another good step is to measure out piggy pellets for the day, then remove some of those pellets and use them as training treats. This way the calories from training treats are not extra added in, instead they come out of the meal calories.
