sores on the back of rats foot

Question
I have noticed big red bumps on the back of my rats foot and i think its  called Bumblefoot and its from wire cages but i covered most of the wore with towels and such but i wanted to take him to the vet but my mom is way to busy and doesn't seem to care about him(shes to busy with her "BF") so im looking for something i can get easily and use at home please help =)

Hi Scott, it does indeed sound like your diagnosis is correct and your rat has Bumblefoot. The two theories behind rats getting Bumblefoot is wire cage floors and obesity or a combination thereof. Since these theories don't always hold true, it appears that some rats are just genetically predisposed to getting Bumblefoot. Since I have never had to deal with Bumblefoot on any of my rats I can only give you links to other websites that have information and treatments.
