trimming a rats teeth

my husband and i cannot trim our rat Belle's teeth. we have to do on a regular basis now because she is missing her top two teeth, but we cannot keep her mouth open or get her to stop fighting us. and we definitely do not have the money to pay 80 to 90 bucks a month to have a vet do it for us. can you give a rat dramamine or something else to calm her down enough to trim her teeth? we need all the help we can get.

What happens if you dont trim her teeth?

Also, you cant give them dramamine but you can give them valium.

Anyhow, just wanted to know what happens if they arent trimmed.

Also, you need to be super careful doing this as you can clip off their tongue.

One thing I suggest in cases like this is to use a finger nail file to gently file down any longer teeth.  Not sure if th is would help or not.
