Manic rat

Question
Hiya,

My rescue rat (now 18 months but have had her since age 9 months) has seemed very 'manic' over the past few days.

She's normal in her cage and content, I have been getting her out the same as normal, maybe slightly less than I used to but still every day, and she seems really scared.

She always used to be scared but snapped out of it and now she seems terrified of something.

She has no signs of illness, has recently had a check up and has no lumps (I check her daily).

She is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping fine!

Any ideas? This may sound odd but i'm going on holiday for a week saturday and I wonder if she can sense it, as I was showing my mum (who will be looking after her, she lives here and knows wanda well...she comes in and sees her daily since we got her) her carrier in case she needs to go to the vet when i'm away. Since that day last week Wanda has been so scared!

Thanks,

Amanda.

PS (she lives with neutered cage mate Simba)

Answer
I dont think she senses your going anywhere to be honest but anything is possible.

Is she running back and forth in the cage, or on the floor running as if she is not sure what she wants or where she wants to go? Like she is trying to run away and escape from something yet she cannot find anything that she is content with?

Does she have weakness in her front paws?
