Question
hi there,
im writing from south africa, i have a pet rat who has been fine up until two days ago, i noticed she her hind legs are very unstable she wobbles around and she is definitly not as agile as she was, when i picked her up today there was blood on my hands. so i checked her and it seems it came from her vaginal area. i dont know what to do, it breaks my heart to see her like that... please help! there arent many people around here who have ever even thought of owning a rat as a pet, and the vet i consulted seemed very uninterested, is there anything i can do???

Answer
That doesn't sound good.
She sounds like she has a urinary tract infection.
What do you feed her?
How old is she?
Is there a possibility that she could have gotten pregnant?
I don't know what to do, I don't know if your country has the right vegetation.
Do you receive peas there? Peas and carrots are very good for rats.
I do know that your rat does have to be seen by a vet.
An expereinced vet by the sounds of it.
I'm sorry that you are having a hard time with finding a vet, its very hard even here in canada.
Try making sure she still eats and drinks and whipe the blood away when and if it comes again.
And try to find a good vet that can see exotics (rats)
Hope I helped!
