Question
Hi Sandra,

I hope maybe you can help me,
My pet rat, Basher, he is about a little over a year old .. maybe a bit more, and ...on the plump side....
well...i was playing with him today, and i noticed he has a little ball sized... lumb on the right side of his face..kind of below his ear..by the jaw area... im not sure where it come from...
or what to do...
i recently ( november ) lost his brother rat wimbledon, im not sure why, i woke up... and he..had past away during the night, no tumors tho...

I cant figure out what it could be, i feed him vegetable, corn carrots green beans, brocoli...fruits, grapes, apples..oranges...
i read just now something about apple seeds being bad for them, i fed him a piece of apple yesterday and today.. maybe the first time.. im not sure...but i dont THINK i gave him seeds.. thought i just cut it off....

If you could please help with advice.. or some knowledge of.. what this could be and what actions to take i would greatly appreciate it...

he seems ... fine... normal anyways...hes never been suuuper active.. so eh... :(..im verrrry worried and sad..
i Do not have a vet here in palm springs... would petsmart be of any help ?

hope to hear back from you soon!

thankyou so much

Answer
Hi

No, petsmart cannot help you (they do not have the proper education on things like this at all) but let me know if your in palm springs Florida or California and I can find a vet for you.

Sounds like an abscess but I am not real thrilled about the location.  Please check out my webpage on tumors, scroll down to the bottom and see the tumor on the rats face and let me know if this is the same place Bashers lump is.

If it is able to be treated, a good vet can help, but if it is zymbals gland tumor like I suspect I want to be sure I find the right vet for him that knows how to handle this.

Here is the URL and please get back with me ASAP!
