Question
hi i was wondering if you can help

i have a 1yr old female energetic rat called badger she is well looked after and has never been ill before.

When feeding her she normally jumps up at front of cage to grab whatever u have for her but didnt today even wen i knocked on cage which always gets her attention she didnt move so i got her out normally wen u go 2 pick her up she runs off and jumps up at cage door 2 get out on her own but she didnt move she just lay there she even let me stroke her which again is not like her.

when i got her out she she fidgeted a little but then buried her head on my arm and didnt move normally she wud have run up onto my shoulder and be runnin from 1 side 2 the other. i checked her all over but she seemed normal except she felt really cold.

Normally wen i put her back in cage she jumps out of my hand and runs into her tunnel but she didnt she just let me place her down she then lay there 4 a few mins before draggin herself to her tunnel. i moved her cage into the living room and infront of radiator 2 help warm her up but it hasnt affected her she has barely moved she seems 2 be draggin her self a few inches at a time and i don think she has eaten or drank anything today. she isnt bleeding from anywhere and has no fluid of any kind coming from anywhere.

please help as only vet in area isnt open till tuesday.
thanku for any help with this

Answer
THere really isnt anything I can do but tell you to feed her baby food (let her lick it from your fingers if she wants) and try to get her to take fluids...even koolaid in a syringe...she needs to see a vet asap. I believe she has an infection, possibly pneumonia. Often certain types of pneumonia are subclinical and acute.  Being cold is a bad sign.  Is there any ER vets near you at all? If you want me to help locate someone I would be more than happy to look.
