Can i keep amoxil?

Question
My vet gave me 200ml of compounded amoxil (it smells like banana) and i was wondering how long i can keep it for? I put it in the fridge, with my past experience with compounded meds you need to keep it in the fridge.

Answer
The recommended thought process according to pretty much every vet is to throw a leftover med out as soon as treatment is finished.. I know with reconstituted compounds, it's recommended that you use them or lose them within 2 weeks of mixing (as they begin to breakdown at that point), and that certain compounds (like sweetened baytril) can be kept in the fridge for 3 months before they begin to break down. It varies by compound and amoxil is not something I'm familiar with personally, so I wouldn't be comfortable giving you a definitive answer. I'm sorry; I know that isn't much help!
