Question
HI ,
I am getting really worried, because I went on vacation and my boyfriend told me that one of my girls( I got two pet rats) eat my shoe?
every since than , about a month she's been ether peeing blood or bleeding.
Iam not sure what it is but Iam getting really worried.
I dont want to loose her because when I adopt them they had to be together , because the other one is very shy and antisocial and would have no chance of addoption. She got comfortable with her and they are running around the house together, but she is very fixed on the sick one.

What should I do?

Thank you  so very much , as I understand not a very many people has so much love for their pet rats.

Sincerely, Marketa Dolezel

Answer
Hi Marketa

She needs a vet. Chances are that she MAY have a urinary tract infection but if the blood is from the vagina, she may have to be spayed as this usually indicates problems with the female organs such as uterine tumors, infection, ovarian tumors, etc....

As for this being related to eating your shoe, dont worry, its not linked at all.  However, peeing blood for a month is not good at all and if she does have infection, it may be very bad at this point.  She needs antibiotics if thats the case.  She needs a vet right now. Please let me know your location and I can give you names of vets that see rats in your area. They are hard to find and even if you do find someone that says they treat them, this doesnt mean they are any good at it!
