Question
Hi, I have a opportunity to bring home a 2 month old hairless female rat and I don't know if I should. It once had a litter of babies already but they are all sold. Only the mom is left. Do you think I should get her or not? I realy want to but I'm still not sure.

I already have 3 girls and 2 boys (don't worry they are separated, so no babies!!!) all standard rats all but 1 who's a dumbo rat. I read they need more special attention than what I've been doing with the fancys.I'm the one who owned that rat named Rat Fink.

Answer
Of course... I remember you!  You are a rattie lover like myself :)

By all means, DO get the hairless rat if you really want her?  Why wouldn't you?  You already have 3 girls, one more wouldn't make hardly any difference as long as your cage is big enough and you let them out to play daily.  I'm not sure the hairless one needs any extra care, but in cold weather, she will be colder than the others so you'll have to make sure you have some soft cozy fleece hammocks or other warm places for her to snuggle in when it's cold.  Since her skin is exposed, there is always the possibility that if she wrestles or scuffles with the other rats, she may get scratched up.  Their skin tends to also be more sensitive.

If you do get her, I would LOVE to see a picture of her.  Let me know!
