rat dying slowley

Question
dear sandra,
i woke up this morning to find one of my male rats (about 2years old) exiled from the main group of rats and quite cold, not moving, not dead, urine all over his belly. gave him a warm bath to warm him up, later on he had blood coming from his genitals. i think he may have had a stroke or sumthing because he is usually quite active, sleeping with his ratty friends. i did find it unusual last night that he was spending alot of time alone at the very top shelf of the cage, this is when i thought something was strange, because he's normally very social. anyway i know he is going to die, i just wanted to know what is wrong with him for furure reference.
thanks for your time
kind regards
katie moore

p.s. his name is duckie

Answer
Why let him die? Take him to the vet!  He sounds like he has an infection, and if he has blood from his genitals, probably one nasty urinary tract infection or kidney infection. He can be helped with proper treatment. I hope he gets the help he needs and recovers for you. He is just 2 years old. Thats not ancient for a rat.
