Canaries & heat

Question
My canary is I believe healthy (He IS singing) But, he sits puffy a lot I believe he is cold.  (Northern WI)  I have a ceramic heater bulb looking thing, but he has to be right in front of it.  What do you think about putting a warmer intended for a dog bed under his cage?

when he gets all puffy like that it is because he is getting his body temperature rite. Canary do not like drafts or wind if they get to much cool draft they can die. Also if he is near a door that opens a lot the wind from the door can make him cold. You can try putting a dog bed heat pad under his cage just make sure you watch it so it wont get to hot.
