Question
I have a 9 wk old cockatoo how often should he be eating and when do you think he will start eating by himself and perching. Now I give him fresh apples and he nibbles on them but I am not sure if he is ready for only 2 feedings at this time.
thanks
Elena

Answer
Hello Elena and thank you for your post.
You could probably start weaning your baby.  Start by cutting back on one feeding a day.  If your baby still acts hungry, then you'll have to feed him/her a little mor for each feeding.
One of our other experts does have a webpage on this subject and it is very informational (not to mention put together very well).  I have read through it, and learned a lot from it.  Here is the link for the site:

Good luck and God bless.
