Question
Hello Chris, i have a male peach faced normal green lovebird, hes handfed friendly and loves attention he is only around 7 1/2 months old. I am getting a female american cinnamon peach faced lovebird by the end of next month. My male has a nice large cage and lots of toys I have a spare cage for teh female slightly smaller but within the size reccomendations lots of spare toys and oter supplies ect. I was wondering if I keep them seperate in there own cages can I have both tame and loving and not have babies that way? I want my male to have someone to chat with but not someone to like more then myself, the female will be a handfed baby as well. Please let me know if this would be a good areanment? both would me allowed out everyday also, thanks.

Answer
Hello Lee

I certainly recommend that you keep the two birds separate if you wish to keep them tame.  I would recommend that you do not even let them out at the same time.

Even in separate cages I fear that you may find that the birds will be more focussed on each other than on you.

In the case of the female, you may find that when she matures and starts to lay eggs that she will lose her tameness even if kept separate to the male.
