QUESTION: i have an african grey parrot who refuses to eat anything other then his seeds. i offer fresh fruits veggies nuts all the time but he throws them all out of his cage. what do i do. he is now losing his feathers im not sure if he is pulling them out or what. we have a vet visit tomorrow.

ANSWER: Hello Shelly and thank you for your post.
Be sure that you do give your Parrot Avian Vitamins to help suppliment his diet.
Try offering some well cooked chicken or beef.  He might take it and eat it.  
What have you tried feeding him?  You can try giving him some spinach or dandelion greens (which seems to be a birdie favorite).  Also, try giving some banana and grapes.  Most birds love these.
Please let me know what the vet says.

QUESTION: Thanks for the advise. i try to give him everything under the sun. fresh fruits, bananas, grapes, mango, apples, cook carrots, rice, yogert, he eats about three bites then he throws it out. If i put vitamins in his water he wont drink it. hes very fussy... i did cook him some eggs tonight he ate some of them, i think he is just mad at me. we went to Florida a few weeks ago and since we are back he seems happy to see us but hes pulling out the feathers,,, i will try the vitamins again. i took his seed out of his cage when i fed him the veggies earlier and he ate some of them i will let you know what the vet says.  thanks again

Hello again Shelly.
He might also like some broccoli flowers (my tiels are crazy for them).
He probably is mad at you, but be sure to spend some extra time with him, especially if he is plucking his feathers out.
Try sprinkling some vitamins on some ofhis seeds.  He won't get the whole dose, but he'll get some.
