Question
Hello Jennifer,
I have a completley tame budgie under 6 months old.
Hes great - the best you could want.
I have two questions:
1. How many hours should he spend out of his cage per day?and what times of the day e.g 2 hours straight or 1 hour morning 1 hour evening etc.
2.How do i bond with him because he isnt at his full potential because he seems to want to fly off and look at the kakariki in another cage rather than be with me.
Thankyou very much,
Jordan

Answer
Hello Jordan,

The typical advise is 4 hours a day out of the cage. Take that as an average and have him out when you are able to supervise. Somedays will be more than others and that's fine. You actually don't want a routine that he can expect as that can create problems.

Here is a past answer where I talk about training which is great for bonding. I would do training session in front of the other bird as it's not unusual to want to visit.
