elmo is 5 months old and is not loving or social,he's happy left alone. he growls and seems to have a hand issue.
i have had him for 1 month and did hand feed til this past sunday,so he's eating well.He hates to be touched.breeder has suggested to swap him for another or she will keep for 2 weeks to break him attitude!  what would you suggest??help help help

Was this amazon handfed as a baby using baby parrot handfeeding formula with a handfeeding syringe (not the same as letting the bird feed from your hand)?  If not, the bird is not tame and is not imprinted on humans.  Breeder didn't do a good job at socializing this bird to be a good companion/pet bird.  The bird has a "bad attitude" because the breeder didn't do their job.  Therefore, I'm not sure "trading" this bird in for another is the solution.  Any other birds you would get from this breeder probably have the same "attitude problem."  It's a problem because the bird is not tame...not that the bird is a problem bird.  Any bird that isn't handfed as a young bird and/or properly socialized to humans will be the same way.  You may want to send this bird back, get your money back, and go to a different breeder altogether.  Otherwise, you'll need to tame the bird yourself.  Not the bird's problem.
