Question
My bird is sick, I don't know why she is sitting in the corner and acting different.  And she is not chirping @ all.  I am 6yrs old and very worried.

Answer
You need to help this bird make it through the night and get her to a vet first thing tomorrow/Monday.

Take a clean sock and fill it 3/4 of the way with uncooked rice (any kind) and knot the end closed. Microwave it for about a minute or a little longer (no more than 1 1/2 minutes).  Shake it out and feel it to be sure the heat isn't too hot and it's evenly distributed.  Put this in the cage with your little one to help generate heat and cover the cage with a blanket, leaving just part of one side open for air circulation and so you can peek in to see how she is.

Try to keep her hydrated by offering a drop of unflavored Pedialyte (or, in a pinch, Gatorade that has no added zinc) every half hour or so (it's easier to use a small eyedropper or even a straw, just dip the straw into the liquid and hold your finger over the opposite end to keep the liquid in - when you remove your finger, the liquid will come out).

Even if this bird seems to improve, it's absolutely vital that she be seen by a vet experienced with birds no later than tomorrow.  Birds are the masters of the animal kingdom at hiding illness until it's pretty far along. That's why you think it's "sudden", but it's really not. Sometimes they work up enough energy to start hiding it again and people think they're better, but they're not.

There's really nothing you can do but get her seen. If you have an emergency number for your vet, it might be worth putting that call in right now.

I hope this works out for you and for your companion. God bless,
