orphan mouse with bloat

Question
Hi

My husband and I rescued a field mouse about 4 days ago.

Up until today he's been fine taking water and milk. We've also been massaging his tummy and bum (like your videos on You Tube).

Now though, he's not using his back legs and he has a big tummy and also struggling to poo.

I'm very worried about him, please help if you can.

Many thanks

Answer
Dear Sam,

Actually, the videos are not mine. I wish I knew as much as she does! I have been trying to contact her so I could use her in a situation where someone asks a question I don't know the answer to.

Did you watch all ten? There is a video which deals with bloat. It also deals with diarrhea. That is a better resource for you than I am.
Instead of my giving you incomplete advice and forgetting something, I am going to ask you to find that one. I am sorry that I am not finding it for you now but I am on my phone because I want to answer you even though I don't have access to a computer right now.

I am not sure if she mentions massage but in my experience, a littl massage helps any kind of stoppage. So you have the right idea there.

I hope this answer is acceptable :). I just want the problem dealt with asap because these little guys do die of bloat.

I wish him all the luck and good health possible.

Squeaks,

Natasha
