Answer
Hi Melanie,
Sorry for the delay in an answer but I've been very ill for the past several days.  First off, at 6 months old it is pretty hard to tell 100% if your male is indeed a male...if you are 100% sure, chances are he is older than thought. You don't mention the age of your female... again, please be sure of there sex as that if by chance, they are both males, they will kill each other.  Even two females can fight horribly..as can opposite sexes. It does sound like they need to be separated now to prevent any further injuries.
With the bite, it sounds like there is infection or possibly more tissue damage than you can see.  He does need to be put on an oral antibiotic to prevent further infection, so a vet is needed for the antibiotics. In the meantime you can wash/soak the area with diluted Betadine(generic is fine).  Dilute to the color of a weak tea.  You can then use an antibiotic ointment on the area such as Bacitracin or Neosporin.
Again , a vet is needed to get oral antibiotics.  I do strongly suggest they be separated also.
