Swollen Subtympanic shield

My iguana has had a swollen subtympanic shield for a couple of weeks now. Is this normal or should i be concerned?

I am not quite sure if you are describing a swelling of the actual scale itself on the superficial level or if you are seeing swelling underneath the subtympanic shield as in the underlying tissue? Is it just the one side and if so, how does it differ from the other side? I am hesitant to ponder this condition further without more description as to what you are seeing. Please reply back with more info.
