Question
I have had a few iguanas now and really enjoy them. my first question is how do you determine sex, and 2nd, how can i find out about helping or adopting rescues?

Answer
Hi James,
Until they are about 9-12 months old, its almost impossible to tell their sex.
Males have larger femoral pores than females.  Femoral pores are the pores on the inside of their hind legs. Males kinda look like OOOOOOooooo where the females are more ooo......   Also, males have larger jowls when they are adults and the all tell tale sign of their hemipeni bumps.  These will be a bump on each side of the tail base. Thank you for considering rescuing.
Depending on where you are located, there are many rescues throughout the US and of course other countries.  On the East coast there is http://www.scalesandtails.org   Other rescues that come to mind are http://www.michiganreptilerescue.org/
Here is a link that will help you find other rescues also.

Hope this helps!!!
