cyst type mass on back side

Question
When cleaning my pigs cage yesterday, I found a dime size lump on his low back.  It has not lost hair, he acts fine and didn't act as if it bothered him much when I felt it.  It is hard, and I haven't noticed it before, although I don't remember feeling him all over either.

I suggest you go to your vet. I cannot really say what the mass could be - it could simply be a cyst, it could be a growth of some kind, maybe an abscess. The only way you will know is to take a trip to the vets.

Leaving the lump could be risky, since you do not know what it is. A burst abscess is a nasty thing to deal with; it is better to get a diagnosis and treatment than to just leave it be.
