Question
Hello again just me, my male guinea pig has always had and got dihorhea and it drives me insane and it is now getting real smelly. He has a cage mate which is his son, and the poor thing has to walk through it all the time, he has hay in there, his main menu is celery, carrots, hay and the occasional grass. He is also the one that is always weeing all over himself, he isn't a very energetic guinea pig either. Why do you think he has always got it? and is there a way to stop it? the other 6 get the same amount and things every day but they don't seem to have it. Also I put Chloe and her two babies inside because it is so hot today and the babies are only small, and I put the two males in Chloes cage while I cleaned thier cage is that alright if the males have been in there? or should I clean it first? thanks Nat

Answer
Hello Natalie,

I would advise a trip to the vet. He may have a parasite (worms) in his intestines or possibly a bacteria that is giving him digestive troubles. I would advise cleaning it first. There likely won't really be any issues with them being in the boys' cage (as long as the boys aren't currently in there), but it is always better to put them into fresh clean cages instead of used ones. It will also be good if the older boar does have worms or a bacteria to prevent the others from getting it.
