single guinea pig

Dear Andy,
   I currently own 2 dogs, 5 cats, and many fish, but they are all kept separate. I would really enjoy a guinea pig to play with. He/she would also have their own room. I am very prepared for the work, but only for one. My friend is also thinking about getting a guinea pig. If we made frequent play-dates and over-night babysitting, would it make my piggy happy? I would really like him/her to be as happy as she/he can be. Thanks.

Hi Claire

There is nothing wrong with your plan, but if you do this I would recommend you both get a female as they get on better than two males usually.

Also, if you pig is on her own, its up to you to play with her regularly to keep her from getting bored.
