Sow menstruation

Question
I have recently obtained a sow, which I thought to be a boar. She was 4-5 weeks at the time of our adopting her so sexing was a little tricky. We only recently found out she was a sow because I picked her up to give her a cuddle and a stroke and she bled on me... a first for sure. My question is how long does the bleeding go on for? The bleeding has been on and off and it varies in both the length of time the bleeding last and the amount of blood discharged, she appears to be in no discomfort and is weeking and playing as per normal, eating a tad more but I suppose thats because we've got her separated from the other boar at the moment. The vet was not overly concerned when we phoned him but said we should keep an eye on her just to be sure. It is not a clear fluid discharge from her anus and her urine is clear and warm... my shirt tells the tale, her feaces are round and brown as per normal.

Thanks in advance for your help. Alex and Marie

Answer
Hello,
I have not heard of a guinea to lose blood, are you sure she is in her menstruation cycle? make sure she has not been hurt. I think that maybe you vet should take a look. If everything else is ok and she is in no discomfort that it could be inside her stomach that is causing the problem, it is best to safe then sorry.
Sorry I couldn't be much of a help and I hope she is ok.
