pregnant guinea pig!

Question
Hello!
I have a pregnant guinea pig and we think shes about 2-3 weeks away from giving birth. She is very healthy and happy! Me and my family are going away on the 23rd, so she won't have given birth by then. We have no one to look after them so we have to take her and the three other females with us. I was worried that the car journey there will stress her out and damage her and her babies. She is only four months old (the pet shop sold her to us pregnant) and im scared because she is so young.
7 years ago we had the same problem with a different guinea pig and it all worked out fine, but this piggie was older so i just wanted some advice.
The journey there will take approx 4 hours (with regular breaks to give them [and us] a rest)is this too long for her?
I hope you can help because shes such a lovely guinea pig!
Thanks!

Answer
She should travel just fine. Being so young in some cases is an advantage. The younger moms actually have fewer problems than an older pig. She's young and healthy and will most likely have a fine litter.

The gestation period is about ten weeks, so if you've already had her for seven or eight weeks then you're right about the due date. If you've had her less time than that she may not be as far along as you think.

In any case I think she will be okay to travel. I would avoid handling her too much. Just let her rest quietly in her travel cage.
