Hamster paralysis and cortisone shot

21 13:32:02

Question
My hamster got out of his cage and got attacked by the cat and now drags
his hind limbs.  He still has a healthy appetite and all appears normal
except for the dragging of his legs.  I called the local vet and he said
that it might help to give him a cortisone shot.  What exactly does the
shot do for the hamster?  Do you think that maybe one of his legs is
broken?  Should I let the vet give him a cortisone shot?

Answer
Hey
After a lot of searching, i found that cortisone is a type of steriod, which just reduces inflammation and swelling, i don't see why you shouldn't give the hamster the shot, but if you're unsure ask the vet a little more about it.
its possible that their could be damage to his back legs, cats are cruel in that they play with their food, and it would have happened then. If hes still eating and drinking thats good,if he doesn't seem in too much pain, aside from seeing what the vet can do,all you can do is make sure food and water is easy to get to.
eventually his legs will heal again, and hopefully he will have use of them.
   Good luck
