I just bought a Syrian hamster. Its 10 weeks old. I have 2 questions.. One..Is how long do they live? Two..Is my hamster is so snippy..Why is that?

Hi Chloe,

    The average lifespan of a hamster is anwhere from 1 1/2 years - 2 1/2 years.  I'd say 2 years is pretty normal.
    About your hamster's attitude - don't worry about this.  Since you just got it, he/she has to adjust to you and its new cage.  It will be nervous and anxious for a little while.  Just keep handling it gently for about 5-10 minutes a couple of times a day, and it will get used to you and lose its "snippyness" :)
