Question
hi i have had my hamster for about ten days and she she has had a messy tail for about 3 days i don't know if it is dihorrea or wet tail she is very active and eats and drinks normally it's just that her poop is very water almost liquid i have stopped feeding her vegetables i gave her a small peice of banana yesterday hoping it would revers the affect please help me know the difference thanks a bunch

Answer
hi zoey,

a messy tail is usually the first sign of wet tail and will lead on to become less active, not eating or drinking, and becoming very sleepy. stop feeding her vegetables completely, put her on dry hamster food. hamsters should only be fed small ammounts of veg or fruit as a treat once or twice a week. if she begins to show any more symptoms of wet tail, see a vet immediately. make sure you keep her and her cage as clean as you can until the dihorrea has stopped or her possible wet tail has been treated.

good luck and thank you for your question, please ask again if you need to and let me know how you get on.
