what is the best male-female, male-male or female-female as pets?

If these are Syrian hamsters then they must live alone.  If they are dwarf hamsters they can live in pairs but it is advisable to opt for single sex pairs otherwise you'll end up with loads.  It doesn't really matter if they are both male or female.  The main thing is that they are related and have never been apart otherwise they may fight.  There is still no guarantee of them getting along but if they are related and have always lived together they should be OK.
