Female gerbil help

Question
QUESTION: My sister and I have noticed that our gerbil, Gracie's bladder seems to be larger than normal... could there be something seriously wrong?

ANSWER: Hi Bryn

Thanks for your question.  How do you know her bladder is larger than usual - have you felt her? Are you sure it is her bladder?

Is she just more rounded than usual?  How is her behaviour - is there any change in this, or in her water consumption?

sorry for all the questions - but if you'd like to get back with a few more details I will see if I can help you.

Regards
Sheila

QUESTION: It seems rounder than usual. I'm pretty sure it is... its where she pees from so... She is still active and alert. i am not sure about her water consumption though.

Answer
Hi Bryn

Sorry for the delay in responding.

How is your gerbil now?  Has there been any change?  When she pees, does it look normal?  I know that gerbil or hamster pee can look quite orange at times, but does your gerbil's pee look like there is blood in it?

Female gerbils can develop problems such as ovarian cysts etc. but these usually grow as symmetrical lumps.

Can you get a photo of her that you could send?

Regards
Sheila
