My Ferret has an Inflamed butt

21 10:58:42

Question
My ferret started having problems a few weeks back with eating. I started giving her a vitamin supplement. I noticed within a couple of weeks my ferrets behind starting to become inflamed. She is still not eating right and has lost a lot of weight. She does not seem to be the same ferret that i once knew. I also have a male ferret that is in the same cage as the female. Could the male become dominant over the female making her lose weight and not eat even though there is two food dishes? Do you know why she has a inflamed rear? Please send me an e-mail to bkz0189@yahoo.com. I have also made an appointment for the ferret, but is there anything I could do in the mean time?

Answer
I am glad you made an appointment for your ferret to see the vet. This usually means diarrhea, but a vet will be able to tell you for sure. You can put a little "witchhazel"
on a cotton ball, and hold it for a few seconds against her anus to help soothe the inflammation, but a vet asap is a good idea.
