i think my ferret is stuck in the wall

hi,
 im very worried about my ferret, no one has seen him since saturday around 2pm, an hour later we heard scratching in the walls, then we discovered a hole in bathroom wall, we are pretty sure he went in that hole. is my ferret still alive?? how long can they live without food and water in the walls??? some people say that they will come back when they want, is this true???? also, what is the chance that he ended up in another apartment or outside????

Ferrets will dehydrate VERY quickly without water and food is also needed within a 24 hour perios.  I doubt very much he will come out on his own as I doubt he knows where to come out.  The best thing to do would be to leave food and water near the hole he got into the wall and try to coax him out.  The only other options (one you may have to consider very soon) is to cut a hole in your wall.  See if you can hear him, then cut near there.  He could die very quickly in the wall.
